IS THERE A LEARNING TYPE?! REVISITING LEARNING-STYLES THEORY IN VIEW OF LEARNING AND EMOTION

Over the last twenty years VAK learning-styles theory, which differentiates between visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning types, has been criticized debunked by various academic disciplines declared several scientists as a neuromyth. Regardless of its criticism, concept retained popularity within teacher-community is regularly taught in teacher education. The aim this article to meet theory-practice gap constructive way. After (1) short introduction, paper starts (2) with differentiated assessment theory. learning-style theory will be deconstructed into four main hypotheses are then (3) one at time, evaluated (empirically well view teaching practice). complex evaluation continues (4) showing, how provides teachers an approachable understanding comforts them dealing differences heterogenic student body. Considering empirical evidence on hand teacher’s needs other hand, (5) lines out fundamental insights theories, (6) relevance capacity emotions for perception processes.
